Deep Tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. This technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deep muscles. This technique is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains, contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, sore shoulders and is commonly used to help with muscle damage associated with injuries
Myofascial Release technique involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the restricted Myofascial connective tissue to eliminate pain and restore motion. Each treatment session is performed directly on skin without oil, cream or lotion. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.
Swedish massage emphasizes long strokes, kneading and friction motions. This technique involves rubbing muscles together in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. This technique is great for relaxing the entire body and is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins and improving circulation while easing tension.
Trigger Point Massage
Trigger Point Massage focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that form due to injury or overuse. Pressure is applied with the fingers, knuckles, and/or elbow in ten to thirty second intervals to effectively alleviate the muscle spasm. This technique works by relaxing the muscle in order to release stored lactic acid and encourage blood and oxygen circulation to the muscle to avoid the production of more lactic acid. The therapeutic pressure and massage typically produces initial soreness and “good pain” in muscle tissue.
Prenatal massage shares the same goals of regular massage, but is tailored to the specific needs of a pregnant woman and her changing body. This is done with the use of special pillows and props to accommodate a growing belly, so you can comfortably lie face down or on your side. Carrying a baby changes the body’s center of gravity and places a large amount of stress on the neck, back, abdominal muscles, and shoulders.
